TOUCH E COVERA touch can take many forms. It can be hard, soft, cold, hot, pleasurable, sadistic…much like kink. In Touch, several kinks take their turn in the spotlight, exhibited by men and women trying to find their way in life.

Meet Nicholas Ford, club owner and Dominant, and explore the world of Daddy Doms and Littles when he meets Kayla, a little submissive he’s inexplicably drawn to but isn’t allowed to touch. Mark Cooper works the bar in his friend’s fetish club, and one night he gets the challenge he’s been waiting for served up on a mouthwatering platter. He’s to introduce newbies Brayden and Evangeline to BDSM, quickly discovering they’re both submissive—quickly getting himself attached, too. Only a couple issues: he’s a tad emotionally jaded from his recent divorce, and Brayden struggles with his sexuality.

Rio Kelly all but abandoned the lifestyle when a brief encounter with a runaway girl changed everything. Ten years later, he sees Chelsea again, and the high-protocol sub is looking for a strict Owner. While navigating unchartered waters with a Master who’s grown cynical and resigned, Chelsea befriends Dylan, a young guy going through his own relationship problems. Dylan’s Daddy Dom isn’t like most others. Cade Kingsley is rough around the edges but wears his heart on his sleeve. Together with Dylan and Gabriella, they try to patch something together that’s just for them. By any means necessary, a few kinky hearts need to be mended.

Touch originally consisted of six novellas and novels. Look but Don’t Touch, Twice the Touch, A Touch to Surrender, A Touch of Trouble, Comforting Touch, and Touching Ink have now been reworked and prettied up for the relaunch, but not without some brand spankin’ new material. Along with the original stories, a dozen outtakes, future takes, and epilogue have been added, including demos, a new novella, and more kinky fun. All to make the complete Touch your not-so-little black book of kink.

Pre-order now on Amazon!

Rach’s Note: Even if you’ve read all of the original Touch books, the new material is well-worth this introductory price. And if you’ve never read any of the Touch books before, this is a goldmine of kink for such a low price! Grab it now before Cara comes to her senses and increases the price!

Romantic Suspense

Lucia DeMarco has made it her life’s mission to find out why her brother Rafe was killed. In the meantime, she just wants to live. A date with the cute guy who works with the city’s records while she’s searching for information seems like a harmless idea. Too bad her brother’s best friend, Noah Blake, feels otherwise.

Noah Blake swore he would protect Lucia at all costs, and that includes protecting her from jerks who aren’t good enough for her. Realizing he’s one of those jerks doesn’t stop his attraction from growing for the girl he used to view as a little sister. But staying away and staying out of her life are out of the question, especially now that she’s in more danger than she realizes.

Shameless is the first book in a romantic suspense series, and it will capture your attention with its wit and humor. The brother-figure turned romantic interest provides a nice amount of push and pull between the characters, and the tension between them is thick right from the start. I especially enjoyed when Noah intruded on Lucia’s date. There was plenty of comedy as well as forging of the attraction between the characters to carry the reader throughout the book.

This first book in the series focused on the beginning of the relationship between Lucia and Noah, and it could have used a little more buildup on the investigation into Rafe’s death. It didn’t feel like the investigation moved very much by the time the book ended. I did enjoy getting to know both characters, however Noah’s thoughts on how he wasn’t good enough for Lucia became repetitive after a while.

Overall, the story was well-written and left me wanting to know what happens next. I would definitely be interested in reading the next book in the series to find out more about Rafe’s death and how it affects the main characters and their relationship.

If I didn’t dream about the perfect curve of her — never mind all that. The point is she’s digging into my world, my secrets, and it’s going to get her killed.

Saying I Do (Stewart Island Book 8) by Tracey Alvarez

Saying I Do E-Book Cover

Marriage and happily-ever-after are for suckers…

Joe Whelan was fooled once on the way to the altar, and the Irish doctor isn’t about to be an eejit over a woman again. Especially not one who witnessed his broken-hearted humiliation years ago. He won’t be swayed by the sparks that fly whenever his eyes meet MacKenna’s or distracted by her sweet kisses. The only thing Joe cares about is preventing his sister from making the biggest marital mistake of her life.

MacKenna Jones loves a good wedding—so long as she’s sewing the bride’s gown, not walking down the aisle herself. Falling for Joe Whelan’s sexy bedside manner wasn’t on the cards, neither was a seven-day road trip with him to Las Vegas, the Marriage Capital of the World. When the stakes are so high, will these two gun-shy cynics ever say I Do?

Excerpt

Feet moving of their own accord, Mac stomped over to him. “You can learn a lot about someone in a short amount of time, and I’ve learned this about your sister already—if you push her too hard too fast, she’ll dig in her heels. So back the hell off for a bit. You’re too heavy-handed.”

His jaw bunched, and suddenly he wasn’t leaning against the door anymore—she was—with Joe’s big hands still clamped on her arms, which was how he’d twisted her around and pinned her.

“Heavy-handed, am I?”

Deeper and rougher than his usual silky tone with a hint of Ireland, his accent came out in force. It wasn’t the voice of a doctor with a charming bedside manner, but the voice of a man who could walk through the rougher parts of Dublin with confidence.

“Yes.”

The word came out high-pitched like a chick’s peep because his grip had loosened on her arms. Both his thumbs stroked over the curve of her biceps, and, dear God—she couldn’t for the life of her stop a delicious shiver from skimming down to her toes. Oh. And the shiver made a couple of pit stops at her nipples along the way.

Her breath shuddered out on a gasp. Even though she knew how to break away from a man by inflicting enough pain to ensure he wouldn’t grab her again, Mac couldn’t do anything but curl her toes and stare at the working of Joe’s Adam’s apple.

She licked suddenly dry lips. “You, ah, need to use a gentler touch.”

“Do I, darlin’?”

The mean streets of Dublin had left his voice, and a new tone appeared. One she’d never heard from him. One that a tiny corner of her heart recognized with a skittering jump, conjuring up a fantasy of a stone cottage on a lonely, Irish cliff top, the sea roaring below and a man whispering Irish endearments in her ears.

His hands skimmed up her shoulders, and one finger traced the line of her jaw, coming to rest in the cleft of her chin. “That’s how you expect a man to handle you, no doubt. As if you were made of spun glass, and a kiss that was anything but gentle would shatter you.”

“A kiss won’t shatter me.” That didn’t make sense, but then nothing did when she could barely hear his words over the pounding bass and the pounding thrum of blood firing through her veins.

“Are you sure now? Because I’m not wantin’ to be gentle.”

He dipped his head and brushed his lips along the path his finger had taken a moment before. A total contradiction of his words. Mac’s stomach dropped in a giddying free fall, and her hands—which had found their way onto his hips—bunched in the soft wool of his sweater.

“Anyone ever tell you you talk too much?” she said.

When she’d meant to say, “I need you to kiss me, fool.”

Apparently, his diagnostic powers were good because he figured out what she needed, and he cupped one big hand behind her neck, lowering his mouth to hers. Warm, firm lips teased hers, not quite a kiss, more testing for reaction as he drew back a fraction, waiting for her to broach the hairbreadth of distance between them again. And with a ragged inhale, she did, parting her mouth slightly to draw him in deeper. If she was going to kiss Joe, then, dammit, it was going to be a good kiss. A grand kiss.

A not gentle, not polite, not going to stop thinking about it for days kiss.

Saying I Do Cover

5 out of 5 Stars

MacKenna Jones has been designing wedding gowns since she was a little girl, but for other people. Mac isn’t the marrying type. She got close once, but she now knows that forever is not for her. Yet there’s something about Oban’s sexy doctor, Joe Whelan, that keeps her coming back for more. Too bad Joe hates her for ruining his chance at happily ever after.

Left by his fiancée a week before his wedding, Doctor Joe Whelan has no interest in holy matrimony. He should hate MacKenna for causing the breakup, but he can’t seem to stay away from her now that their orbits have crossed. Since Mac so successfully broke up his wedding several years ago, it should be no problem for her to break up Joe’s sister’s wedding, because no tattooed bus driver could be good enough for his little sister. Never mind that his diabolical plan forces him and Mac together. Shouldn’t be a problem since they’re both allergic to marriage.

Saying I Do is book 8 in the Stewart Island series, and like all other novels in this series, it can comfortably be read as a standalone book. Of course, if you’re already a fan of the series, some of everyone’s favorite characters make reappearances. Good old Mrs. Taylor, Oban’s resident octogenarian matchmaker, is back for another book, and this time she’s pointed her walking stick at Dr. Joe. No one has yet escaped Mrs. Taylor’s matchmaking!

One thing I love about every book written by Ms. Alvarez is that the story always goes beyond the romance. This one is no different. Both Mac and Joe are nuptially-challenged, and they each have good reason to stay away from the institution, in addition to good reason to stay away from each other. The plot is driven forward as much by their family situations and need for growth as it is by their lust. And in typical Tracey Alvarez style, the heat is turned up between the two, and the romance blooms in vivid color across the pages of the book. Attraction turns to love in a natural pace, making the reader fall in love with the characters right along with them.

Another thing I always enjoy in this author’s books is the taste of New Zealand I get by reading them. Descriptions of the weather and scenery are naturally integrated, painting a picture for me of a place I likely won’t ever be able to travel to. This book also had the benefit of including Joe’s Irish slang for added culture, as well as a trip to Las Vegas and the dry desert heat.

Saying I Do was as witty and enjoyable as every other book I’ve read by this author. Although I tend to tire of a series after a few books, Ms. Alvarez somehow keeps me coming back for more … eagerly!

SCOTUS (A Powerplay Novel) by Selena Laurence

Title Cover

5 out of 5 Stars

*I was provided a copy of SCOTUS by the author in exchange for an honest review. I am not compensated for my honest opinion.*

If you’re looking for a romance you can really sink your teeth into, look no further than Selena Laurence’s SCOTUS. This Powerplay novel is a standalone political romance that truly packs a punch, dealing with some serious current issues like racism and political scandals and featuring an interracial couple. It’s an emotional second-chance romance that will keep you turning the pages right up to the end.

Teague Roberts has had his eye on becoming a Supreme Court Justice since he was a little kid growing up in a neighborhood filled with gangs and violence. All his life he’s been trying to get out of the shadow of his upbringing, but he’ll never really be able to forget where he’s from. Just as he’s on the cusp of getting everything he’s ever wanted, a blast from his past shows up and threatens to ruin it all.

Deanna Forbes was once engaged to Teague, but now she’s assigned to report on him as the president’s Supreme Court nominee. Her boss wants her to find a scandal, but Teague appears squeaky clean on the outside. She’s the only person who knows his darkest secret and could ruin his entire career. Deanna already has sins of the past to atone for. Despite having never stopped loving Teague, she’ll never be able to forgive herself for what she did to him twelve years ago.

The way the author handled the racial issues in this book was both heartbreaking and brilliant. The reader gets both perspectives, with Deanna having been raised by parents who wouldn’t accept a black man for their son-in-law and Teague struggling to overcome every racial roadblock thrown in front of him.

Teague’s character was so complex I couldn’t help but love him right from the start. On the outside, he was a successful attorney wearing power suits and working eighty hours a week. On the inside, he was still the kid who grew up in a rough neighborhood and was used to defending himself, sometimes for no other reason than the color of his skin. No power suit would change the perception of some people, and throughout the story Teague had to accept this and find ways to overcome it.

Deanna was intriguing on her own as well. It wasn’t long after letting go of Teague the first time that she realized it was the mistake of a lifetime. She spent the next twelve years trying to make up for it any way she could. And once Teague was back in her life, she was going to do whatever she could to right her past wrongs.

The emotion in this book was off the charts, and it ran the gamut of heartfelt to heartbreaking and everything in between. I was so emotionally connected to these characters that I hurt for them and could feel every bit of their pain. Even a secondary character brought me to tears several times.

I have read quite a few books by Ms. Laurence and truly enjoy her writing, but this one is her absolute best. The present-day issues and emotional journey will stay with me for a long time to come.

IY - ebook cover - XL

One novel…

This was a mistake. Flying all the way to Washington to see Dad’s old college friend, who has reluctantly offered to help me with my writing after the world tore my first novel to shreds…big, big mistake. One, Jack Grady is lethally handsome. Two, he doesn’t mince words, and he absolutely hates my novel. But here I am, and I’m his for the weekend. Maybe in more ways than one, which would be totally inappropriate. —Isla Roe.

…two love stories.

Shock can be good or bad. It can be a good shock to discover you’re going to be a father at eighteen. This isn’t that kind of shock. This is bad. Several weeks after she was supposed to return home, one justifiably infuriated father makes his way to northern Washington. That would be me. Checking in at Cedar Inn, I think of ways to confront Jack and Isla—until I spot a familiar face from my childhood on the other side of the desk. But it can’t be her, can it? My God, she’s beautiful. I wonder how she’d react if she knew I’ve written a book about her. —Aiden Roe.

(All Camassia Cove novels are standalone.)

*I was provided a copy of Inappropriately Yours by the author in exchange for an honest review. I am not compensated for my honest opinion.*

Inappropriately Yours makes me wonder if Ms. Dee felt this way as Isla did when she started writing her first books. Both father and daughter find love in Camassia Cove. I really enjoyed getting to read 2 parts, one with Jack and Isla’s love story and one with Isla’s father Aiden and Chloe’s love story. I also loved getting points of view from each character involved.

A beautiful heart-warming story of love and devotion, of family and compassion, of understanding and acceptance with a HEA. Great story-line and characters. The angst in this book is low, sometimes you just need to read a mushy love story that makes you swoon. The ending just gives you this goofy smile.

Ms. Dee’s writing has always been incredible to me for years. She seems to just know how to keep the reader excited to read the next chapter until the end. I can’t wait to read more about the characters in Camassia Cove.

Thanks to Rach for giving me the opportunity to read this amazing book.
